Karan Johar says he finds it strange to eat while standing in queues at weddings
Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, during a discussion with actors Kriti Kharbanda and Pulkit Samrat, revealed that he has never eaten at a wedding. The exchange came as they talked about wedding traditions and priorities.
For a man who is almost synonymous with big, fat Bollywood weddings, Karan Johar has an unexpected confession – he has never even eaten at one. Recently, during a conversation with fellow actors, Johar confessed that he feels uncomfortable eating food at a wedding buffet.
The filmmaker shared this candid confession during a conversation with actors Kriti Kharbanda and Pulkit Samrat Honorable Wedding ShowWhere the three discussed wedding traditions, eating habits and personal quirks. When Johar asked the couple about the non-negotiables for their wedding celebration, they both answered in unison: good food.
Adding a personal touch to the discussion, Kriti revealed that Pulkit is fondly called “Annapurna” at home. She said that his love for feeding people and making sure everyone around him was comfortable was one of the many reasons she wanted to marry him. The actor also joked about how wedding guests often travel long distances just to pick up one or two items at the buffet.
Then Johar made his surprising revelation. “I have never eaten at a wedding,” he said, adding that standing in long queues carrying a thali makes him uncomfortable. He said, “I feel very awkward eating food while standing with a plate. I never eat at weddings.”
Johar’s confession became all the more significant given his close association with lavish wedding ceremonies. He recently hosted the lavish wedding of American billionaire Ram Raju Mantena’s daughter Netra Mantena in Udaipur. The star-studded event featured performances from Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Shahid Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit, with international pop star Jennifer Lopez also making a special appearance.
