How did the clash start?
The rift between the two began in December 2020 during farmers’ protests across the country against the government’s new agricultural laws. Kangana had shared a photo of an elderly woman at a protest site and wrongly identified her as one of the women seen during the Shaheen Bagh anti-CAA protests.
He also claimed that the woman could have hired 100 people to join the protests. This comment sparked anger on social media. Diljit was also among those who challenged the claim. He shared a BBC interview to show that the woman was Mahinder Kaur, a farmer from Punjab.
The disagreement soon escalated into a heated exchange of words. During the exchange, Kangana called Diljit a “bootlicker” and “Karan Johar’s pet”. Diljit responded by rejecting the comments and defending the honor and dignity of the women who participated in the protests.
