For those in the know, Nayanthara recently called out actor Dhanush K Raja for accusing him of copyright infringement over the material used in the upcoming Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. According to his open letter, the producers were trying to obtain NOC (No Objection Certificate) to use the content of his film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.
The film, directed by Dhanush, marked the debut of Nayanthara and her now husband Vignesh Shivan, scenes from which were to be used in a documentary exploring their personal lives. However, despite requesting NOC, the footage was not allotted to them even after 2 years.
Additionally, the makers of the documentary decided to use BTS footage from the set of the film, which was captured using personal phones. However, the open letter has revealed that Dhanush’s lawyers have filed a case against the actress alleging copyright infringement and have demanded a compensation of Rs 10 crore.
It is said that these incidents led to the actress’s open letter which is receiving support from various people in the industry. The film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, directed by Vignesh Shivan, featured Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in the lead roles.
The romantic action comedy, released in 2015, told the story of a policeman’s son trying to become a don in his field by indulging in illegal activities.
