Jerry Adler, the experienced stage manager who later became a acclaimed actor, died at the age of 96. His family confirmed the news, stating that Adler died on August 23, 2025 in New York City.

Born on February 4, 1929 in Brooklyn, Adler started his career behind the curtain on Broadway before acting in the early 60s. Despite the late start, he left a permanent impression on both television and theater.

As Hollywood reporterAdler spent decades as a platform manager and production supervisor Broadway classics like ‘My Fair Lady’, ‘Main Sing’, and ‘The Apple Tree’. During this period, he worked with industry legends including Catherine Hepburn, Zero Mostle and Herold Pinter. He even recalled Hepburn once after interacting with construction workers during the noise of ‘Coco’.

Adler made acting infection at the age of 62, making his debut in 1991 on ‘Brooklyn Bridge’. He appeared in Woody Ellen’s ‘Manhattan Murder Mystery’ (1993), which paved the way for roles in film and television.

His success came in 1999 when he played the role of Tony Soprano’s reliable advisor, Harman “Hesh” Rabkin, HBO’s prestigious series ‘The Sopranos’. Adler later won the heart as Howard Liman in ‘The Good Wife’, a role that began as a single-episode appearance, but increased in 30 episodes due to his comic talent.
