India’s first astro tourism campaign ‘Nakshatra Sabha’ was organized in Mussoorie

India’s first astro tourism expedition “Nakshatra Sabha” was inaugurated on the George Everest peak in Mussoorie on Saturday, June 1. The venue of the event, the George Everest peak is a major tourist attraction in Mussoorie offering spectacular views of the snow-capped Himalayas. Peaks and Doon Valley.

The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board in association with Star scapes – India’s leading astro tourism company, jointly organises the event, which concludes today, June 2.

After this, astro tourism events will also be organised at several other places across the country including Harsil-Jadung, Benital, Rishikesh, Jageshwar and Ramnagar.

As part of the event, various activities like learning astrophotography from experts, stargazing through special instruments, solar observation through solar glasses and H-alpha filter, navigation and timekeeping were organised. It also featured expert talks on astro tourism, astrophotography competitions and astronomical demonstrations.

The state tourism department has taken initiatives in line with the vision of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to promote multi-dimensional tourism activities in the state apart from religious tourism.

Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said the government is trying to ensure that tourists visiting the state return home with a better experience and Nakshatra Sabha is a step in that direction. Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said that emphasis is also being laid on developing new tourist destinations in the state.
