Apara Ekadashi 2024: The most auspicious time of the year is here. Every year, Apara Ekadashi is celebrated with great fanfare and pomp across the country. Apara Ekadashi 2024 observed by devotees of Lord Vishnu: is considered a day of devotion and dedication. It is believed that worshiping Lord Vishnu on this auspicious day helps to purify the soul and obtain the blessings of the Lord. As we celebrate the auspicious day today, here are some things to know.

Tithi and auspicious time:

This year, Apara Ekadashi is being celebrated on June 2. The country is abuzz with the festival of Apara Ekadashi. Devotees of Lord Vishnu worship the Lord and take his blessings. According to Drika Panchang, Ekadashi Tithi started on June 2 at 5:04 am and will end on June 3 at 2:41 am.

Worship:

On this day devotees wake up early and start the day with a holy bath. Then they take a vow to observe the Apara Ekadashi fast with utmost devotion and dedication. An idol of Lord Vishnu is placed on the altar and flowers, garlands, fruits and sweets are offered to the Lord. Then prayers and mantras are offered to God. Vishnu Chalisa and Vishnu Sahasranam are chanted. Often devotees stay awake throughout the night for additional prayers.

On Dwadashi Tithi, Lord Vishnu is worshipped, devotees observe a strict fast on this auspicious day. For this year, Parana (fasting) is on June 3 between 5:26 AM and 8:25 AM. Devotees believe that reciting the Apara Ekadashi Vrat Katha while fasting can increase the benefits. Cereals and pulses are avoided while fasting Apara Ekadashi. Giving charity to the poor and needy is advised as a noble way to break the fast.
