Hyderabad man complains about worms in chicken biryani ordered from Mehfil Biryani, Swiggy responds

Ordering food at home can be a fun experience—choosing your favourite dishes and enjoying them from the comfort of your own home. However, this experience can turn sour instantly if your order doesn’t meet your expectations, or worse, if there are food safety or hygiene concerns. Recently, a man ordered chicken biryani from Mehfil Biryani in Kukatpally, Hyderabad and found that “the chicken pieces have worms”, as mentioned in his complaint on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). On his X handle, the man posted screenshots in which a small worm can be seen on a piece of chicken.

He also shared a screenshot of his complaint on the delivery platform Swiggy, where they responded, “We are very sorry to hear that the order did not meet your expectations! Packaging of the dishes is entirely handled by the restaurant. However, since you are a valued customer of ours, we would like to compensate you for your unsatisfactory experience. As an apology, we can offer you a refund of Rs 64.00 for the affected item.”

The customer wrote that Swiggy offered a “refund of Rs 64 on a bill of Rs 318”. See the full post here:

Later, the customer was refunded the full amount of his order. He wrote, “Prasad from @Swiggy called me and took the initiative to refund the full amount and gave me FSSAI details to lodge a complaint.” The customer also shared a screenshot of the complaint filed with FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India).
