According to industry tracking site Sacnilk, 3 collected Rs 10 crore on Friday, while retro brought for about Rs 7 crore.

However, both films experienced noticeable dip in the daily collection after their strong opening. Suriya’s retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, started with Rs 19.25 crore, but saw a decline in later days. In contrast, the latest installment in the hit 3, the popular crime thriller franchise was opened for an impressive 21 crore rupees.

With these figures, a hit: The third case has reached a total collection of Rs 31 crore, while retro is Rs 26.75 crore. Neither the film has made a significant impact in the Hindi speaking belt, where Ajay Devgan’s RAID 2 currently dominates the box office. Released on 1 May, RAID 2 was opened for a strong Rs. 18 crore.

It remains to be seen how 3 more retro fare in the weekend is a hit, which will be important for both films.
