Google to launch Pixel 9 on August 13: Gemini, foldable, Pixel Watch 3 and more coming
Google is all set to launch its latest Google Pixel 9 on August 13. However, the Pixel 9 is not the only highlight of the event. Google is also preparing to launch its new range of foldables, the Pixel Watch 3 and the Pixel Buds Pro 2. The tech giant will also unveil the features of the Gemini AI integrated in the upcoming flagship device.

Google has announced its upcoming hardware event to be held on August 13, where the company will introduce new devices and technology. Last week, the tech giant had announced that the upcoming flagship Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be unveiled during the event. That’s not all. The post on X (formerly Twitter) also revealed that the upcoming devices will be heavily integrated with Gemini AI. Following the post, it is clear that the company will shed more light on the Gemini-powered AI features on these smartphones. But more than that, Google will also unveil the launch of the Google Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2. It is notable that Google is releasing its new range of products ahead of the Apple iPhone 16 series. This gives it more room to stay ahead of Apple. The event will be observed at 10 am PT, which means 10.30 pm in India.
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: The first foldable in India
As reported earlier, last week Google took to the X to tease its two most premium upcoming devices – Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Except for the top portion of the rear panel, camera island and Gemini, no details were given in the 20-second video. While the Google Pixel 9 Pro resembles its previous model Pixel 8 pro, it is the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold that has caught everyone’s attention. The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the second foldable from the company. Google’s first foldable, the Pixel Fold was launched, but not in India. But not this time. Google has confirmed that the smartphone will be launched in India as well.
The official teaser shows the Pixel 9 Pro Fold with a stunning design with a dual-pill-shaped camera cutout. The cameras are housed on a rectangular island in the top-left corner of the rear panel. Although the teaser doesn’t reveal the camera on the inner screen, rumors indicate that the phone will have a punch-hole camera on the left side of the screen, a design upgrade from the first Fold’s bezel-mounted camera, made possible by the reduced bezel size.
The Gemini Era
In the same teaser posted last week, it’s notable that more than the hardware, the emphasis is on the Gemini AI integrated into the device. Both feature the tagline “A (foldable) phone built for the Gemini era,” setting the stage for the latest in a long line of AI-themed tech events.
In May, Gemini also made headlines during the Google I/O event. In fact, it seems Google intentionally separated its consumer hardware announcements from its developer conference, revealing the affordable Pixel 8a device ahead of the event to separate it from the developer-focused proceedings. Notably, the most exciting consumer-facing Android AI feature this year has yet to debut on any Pixel device.
Google Pixel Watch 3
While nothing is official about the upcoming Google Pixel Watch 3 yet, online rumours have a lot to say. As per the latest reports, the Pixel Watch 3 may come with a bigger screen and thinner bezels than the previous Pixel watches.
The Pixel Watch 3 is rumored to impress with a brighter 2,000-nit display and thinner bezels than its predecessor. These improvements aren’t just cosmetic; they reflect Google’s commitment to improving both form and function.
The inclusion of an ultra-wideband (UWB) chip, confirmed via a recent FCC filing, suggests advanced location tracking capabilities that align with Google’s advanced Find My Device network. Furthermore, the Pixel Watch 3 will reportedly come in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm, to accommodate different preferences and wrist sizes. Furthermore, the watches are expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s W5 chipset and feature a robust battery life, with the larger model having a substantial 420mAh battery.
Google Pixel Buds Pro 2
A new TWS, the Pixel Buds Pro 2, will also be launched at the August 13 launch event. Just like the Pixel Watch 3, nothing has been officially revealed, but rumours and leaks indicate that the new Pixel Buds Pro 2 case may have a 650mAh battery capacity. The earbuds are said to have up to 31 hours of battery life without noise cancellation. The charging case is speculated to support both wired and wireless charging.
