Google first launched its image generation tool with Nano Banana last year, which became an instant hit due to its ability to generate realistic and creative images within seconds. This was followed by the Nano Banana Pro, which focused on deeper logic and studio-level creative control for more demanding tasks. Now, with the Nano Banana 2, Google says it’s bringing “pro capabilities with lightning-fast speeds,” offering faster generation as well as higher-fidelity images.
With Holi around the corner, this might be the perfect time for users in India to try out the new Nano Banana update and wish a colourful, creative festival. Let’s take a look at the new features and how to access Nano Banana 2.
Features of Nano Banana 2
At the core of the Nano Banana 2 is Gemini Flash, which, according to Google, enables fast editing and quick iterations without compromising quality.
Advanced World Knowledge: One of the biggest upgrades in Nano Banana 2 is what Google calls “Advanced World Knowledge.” The Nano Banana 2 model taps into Gemini’s real-world knowledge base and integrates real-time information and imagery from web searches. This allows it to generate more accurate representations of specific topics and create structured visuals such as infographics, diagrams, and data visualizations with better contextual understanding.
Better text management: Google has also improved text generation with the Nano Banana 2. The model provides accurate text rendering, allowing users to generate clear, legible text directly within images. It can also translate and localize text inside images, helping creators adapt visuals for different languages and global audiences.
High fidelity and stability: Google says the Nano Banana 2 can recognize five characters and 14 different objects across multiple images. In simple terms, if you are creating a story or a series of scenes, the characters will not suddenly change their face, clothes or style from one image to the next.
The model is also said to understand detailed instructions better, meaning that if you give it a complex signal, it is likely to create exactly what you described without missing important details.
Better lighting and details: On the visual front, the Nano Banana 2 will deliver better lighting, richer textures and sharper details while maintaining the faster generation speeds associated with flash. Users can adjust picture size and quality from small (512 pixels) to very high (4K), so the Nano Banana 2 can be used for all types of uses such as social media, presentations, and marketing materials.
Transparency and Verification: For the sake of transparency, Google is emphasizing that Nano Banana 2 integrates SynthID technology with interoperable C2PA content credentials. According to the company, this will help users understand whether AI was involved in creating the image or not. The company says its verification tool has already seen significant use in the Gemini app.
Availability of Nano Banana 2
Nano Banana 2 is available on many Google products. It replaces the earlier image models in Fast, Thinking and Pro modes in the Gemini app. However, Nano Banana Pro will still be available for users who need higher factual accuracy for more specialized tasks.
The Nano Banana 2 is also available in AI mode and search via Lens, and can be accessed through the Google app as well as on mobile and desktop browsers. Google says it’s expanding to 141 additional countries and territories, along with support for eight more languages.
For developers and businesses, Nano Banana 2 is available in preview through AI Studio and Gemini API, as well as through Vertex AI on Google Cloud. It has also become the default image creation model in Flow and is integrated into Google Ads, where it helps create suggestions when creating campaigns.
