Disney+ has announced the premiere date of its upcoming original series Gangnam B-Side and released an intriguing teaser that has already caught the attention of viewers. Directed and written by Park Noo-ri, this crime drama follows the intertwined lives of a detective, a prosecutor, and a mysterious pimp as they search for clues in a case centered around Gangnam’s underworld. The story revolves around their search for Jae Hee, the missing ace of a prominent Gangnam club.

Park Noo-ri, best known for directing the hit film Money, brings her expertise to this highly anticipated series, which promises an intense and gripping viewing experience. The cast includes Jo Woo-jin, Ji Chang-wook, Ha Eun-kyung, and BB (Kim Hyung-seo), who deliver performances that add to the suspense of the series.

The recently released teaser shows a stark contrast between day and night in Gangnam. It begins with a quiet, monochromatic cityscape and then transitions to vibrant, chaotic scenes. With the phrase “The world they play in is beneath the world we live in,” the teaser hints at the dual realities that exist in Gangnam, further fuelling curiosity about the complex narrative.

At a crucial moment in the trailer, a voice can be heard saying, “There is chaos in Gangnam because of you. Everyone is just looking for Jae Hee,” as Jae Hee, played by BB, is seen wandering the dark streets in fear.

The teaser also introduces the show’s main characters, each carrying their own secrets. Jo Woo-jin plays Detective Kang Dong-woo, who returns to Gangnam to solve the case. His portrayal promises a layered and realistic character that adds depth to the mystery that unfolds.

Ji Chang-wook, who recently stepped out from his roles in Welcome to Samdal-ri and Queen Woo, makes a complete transformation as Yoon Gil-ho, a lawless broker who becomes the prime suspect in the investigation. Ha Eun-kyung, who recently appeared in Extraordinary Attorney Woo, plays Min Seo-jin, a prosecutor determined to solve the case to further her career.

Known for her music and acting talent, BB plays the club’s top artist Jae Hee, whose disappearance sparks an investigation. Her role as the missing artist is central to the story, and her portrayal is expected to bring both sensitivity and intensity to the story.

Gangnam B-Side is set to start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from November 6.
