Former co-star of Mohanlal, Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran and child actor Hari Murali dies at 27

Former child actor Hari Murali, who co-starred with Prithviraj Sukumaran, Dileep and Mammootty, died on March 12, 2026. According to multiple reports, including Mathrubhumi, the actor was found dead at his home in Annur village in Payyannur, Kannur, Kerala.

Having acted in over 50 films, Hari Murali has been working extensively as a VFX artist. Although further details about his death have not been revealed yet, the actor was reportedly 27 years old.

For those unaware, Hari Murali was best known for his role in the Dileep-starrer comedy thriller Rasikan, released in 2004. Directed by Lal Jose and written by Lucifer writer Murali Gopi, the film made the actor a recognizable face in households at the age of six through a comic scene, which later became a meme in contemporary Malayalam pop culture.

Apart from Rasikan, Hari has appeared in leading roles in several notable Malayalam films, such as Mammootty-starrer Annan Thambi, Pattanathil Bhootham, Mohanlal’s Madampi, Dileep-led Don and Jayaram starrer Ulakam Chuttum Valiban.

Apart from films, the actor initially appeared in television serials, making his debut in a show directed by AM Naseer with a script by Dinesh Pallath.

Following his stint as a child actor, Hari Murali played a small role in the Prithviraj Sukumaran, Indrajith Sukumaran and Jayasurya-led comedy drama Amar Akbar Anthony (2015), where he played Prithviraj’s younger brother.

The actor was the son of theater and film actors Payyannur Murali and Prasanna. He became interested in acting at an early age while attending theater camps with his father.

Apart from acting, Hari took a degree in visual effects and animation and studied in Bengaluru. He was working as a visual effects artist in a company in Kochi.

In a previous interview, the actor and VFX artist had revealed that he wanted to write a script and expressed interest in directing it with Mammootty in the lead role.
