Is Fastag Annual Plan a mandate?

First things first, this new Fastag Annual Plan is not a mandate. This is just another plan to avoid the ups stuck on the toll. This means that the current fastag system will remain unchanged. Those who do not buy annual passes can continue using their fastag for standard toll payments with applied fee according to normal rates in each toll plaza.

As mentioned, the cost of the new Fastag annual plan is at least Rs 3,000 per year. Once the pass is used for 200 trips or is active for an entire year, whatever comes first, it will automatically return to standard fastag functionality. However, the motor driver who reaches the 200-trip border before the year will have the option to buy a fresh annual pass directly.

This pass is strictly connected to the specific vehicle on which Fastag is registered, and cannot be transferred to another. On toll points that charge on the basis of space, each crossing is counted as a single trip, in which the return journey is registered as two. In the case of closed toll systems, a complete entry and exit will be considered the same journey.

“A notification issued by the ministry stated that the fee for the pass can be adjusted annually, with an amendment with an amendment from April 1,” he said. Therefore, minimum prices will increase (or perhaps decreasing) starting from every financial year.

How to activate Fastag Annual Plan?

The pass will be activated only after the eligibility of the vehicle and its linked Fastag has been verified. Once approved, the user will have to pay Rs 3,000 for the base year 2025-2026 via Rajmargatra Mobile App or NHAI website. After the payment is processed, the annual pass will be enabled on the registered fastag, and the user will receive the SMS update about the pass.

Those who already have existing fastag eats do not need to buy a new, as the annual pass can be added to their existing tag, provided that it fulfills the required conditions. This involves the vehicle’s windscreen being pasted correctly, which is associated with a valid registration number, and is not being blacklisted.
