Exclusive: Edivi Sesh called 2025 shool a dakit, praised co-star Mrinal Thakur
Adivi Sesh is ready to surprise the audience with his next, ‘dakit’. The film, including Mrinal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap, promises an emotional new-western experience that kills in theaters on 25 December, 2025.

After making a place for himself in the action-thriller space, actor Adivi Sesh is now making an exciting round with his upcoming film ‘Dakit’, with hits like ‘Gudhari’, ‘Averu’, ‘Hit 2’, and ‘Major’. In a special interview with indiatoday.in, Sesh opened about stepping into the unwanted emotional field, the creative vision behind ‘Dacoit’, and why working with Mrinal Thakur has been a transformative experience.
On the world of ‘Dacoit’
Calling Dacit a “Passion Project”, Sesh revealed that the film was starring by his best friend (Shenil Dev), who was a bride in California like him. “He is together desi and American,” Sesh shared, “We wanted to tell the story of a modern -day cowboy, just without costumes.”
But this is not just another style action film. “Any Indian story is a true Indian film, without any feeling, without feeling,” he said. “So we wanted all these high emotions to be set against the background of a ‘Sholay’ of an angry new-western, 2025, if you will.”
Sesh said that the USP of the film is its love story. He said, “What makes it an ultra-special, is that the film is eventually a love story, under the guise of an action film.”
On production obstacles, creative clarity
‘Dakit’ allegedly faced some failures during production, but Sesh insisted that the core was creative. The project made headlines after Shruti Haasan earlier this year, which was initially cast as a female lead, excluded the film after tension with the producers.
Asked about the same, Sesh said, “This is not really a hindrance when you know that the creative was never threatened. The effect of the mentality is only when you really don’t know where you are standing creatively. And it was never in doubt.”

Hopping on style
Known for playing a deep role in the drama of police, detective and army, Sesh admitted that ‘Dakit’ brought his filmography. He said, “I am the title urban action hero here. I am offered a police film, an army film, an espionage film, a patriotic film every week.”
This is exactly the reason why ‘Dakoit’ appealed to him. He said, “It was mandatory for me to spread my wings, to do styles outside the urban area; some soil, some lies,” he explained.
Sesh continued, “At the same time, there is a certainly decorated reality I like in my films. I am not related to hardcore mass space, not yet. Anyway. Anyway. Anyway. Anyway. Anyway. Anyway. Anyway. Mrinal is called his ‘life coach’
Sesh called co-star Mrinal Thakur and “positive” and “lively”. He said, “Because she is constantly living out of her suitcase, she has come to know a way to make any place a house. If she has a house, where she has a heart, she has a heart on her sleeve, so she is at home wherever she is. She is beautiful to see and experience with her.”
Her romantic roles in films like ‘Sita Ramam’ and ‘Hi Nanna’ are known for her romantic roles, the poster of Mrinal Cinematic love stories may be a girl, but ‘Dakit’, Sesh said, said, “completely something else. He said, “Sita Ramam” and her other films are soft films.
Asked if he took any suggestions from him when he came for romance? Sesh replied, “So, no suggestion about the film,” he laughs, “but I have learned a lot from him how to contact life. He has become my defacto life coach in many examples. Imagine getting it for free! (Laughing).”
With ‘Dakoit’, Adivi Sesh is clearly beyond the action hero mold he helped shape in Telugu cinema. The film not only promises high -two action, but a raw, emotional core – something that makes the actor feel deeply proud of bringing the audience.
Anurag Kashyap is also in an important role in the film, and is set to hit theaters on 25 December, 2025.
