Aditi Rao Hydari has once again become the inspiration for Imtiaz Ali. After their limited roles in Rockstar, many were excited about the two coming together, so when O Sathi Re was announced, fans couldn’t stop themselves. The Netflix production reportedly talks about a passionate love story set in a metropolitan city with vintage shades. Announced a year ago, the project has yet to have a release date.
Speaking to us in an exclusive interview, Aditi Rao Hydari talked about coming back with Imtiaz Ali serving as producer.
O friend, how has it been for you?
Aditi Rao Hydari: So Imtiaz is one of those directors with whom I always look forward to working. I was at Rockstar for a short time. Therefore, the temptation to do an entire film with him still remains. Even in O Sathi Re he had bit parts. A large part of it was also directed by Arif Ali. Imtiaz was a listener and a writer. He was also directing some portions. Their energy and their way of thinking, moment to moment. He doesn’t even sit on the monitor. He sees you for who you are. I find all this really exciting. He is very dynamic and ideas are coming continuously. And it’s very exciting.
It was very difficult as a concept, just in terms of an emotional drama. So there’s a lot in it. It was very challenging for all of us as actors. And especially for me, I would say, because I’m speaking about it, it’s very, very, very challenging. But the fun lies in the challenge.
How is it working with Avinash Tiwari and Arjun Rampal?
Aditi Rao Hydari: Avinash Tiwari, with whom I spent a lot of time in O Saathi Re, is a wonderful co-star. I liked working with him. I have worked with him before in Girl on a Train. And then I also joined him. I trust him completely as a co-star and as a person. And that really helps. He is a true friend. I really enjoyed working with him.
I think Arjun Rampal is everyone’s universal crush. And he is such a wonderful person. she is very well. He is very calm. It is also a lot of fun to work with him. He is very caring. He is very protective. He is funny.
What’s next for you?
Aditi Rao Hydari: There is family entertainment, which has been with Pankaj Tripathi, which is a very new world for me. And I have done a Tamil Telugu… thriller, if I can call it that. Yes, the one I just finished. (Thus)
