On a recent episode of Steve Kmetko’s Still Here Hollywood podcast, 68-year-old Eric Roberts, best known for his role in The Dark Knight, opened up about his famous family. Despite being told not to, Roberts couldn’t stop talking about his sister Julia Roberts and his daughter Emma Roberts.
According to People, when asked about Julia he told Kmetko, “I love my sister, but I can’t talk about her.” He said Julia doesn’t want them to talk about her.
Eric Roberts talks about daughter Emma
Eric admitted that Emma also told him not to talk about her. “She told me not to talk about her, but I tripped and I did,” he confessed. Eric, who is proud of his daughter’s success, couldn’t stop himself from praising her.
Emma is known for her roles in American Horror Story and other movies, and she has made her father very proud. He said that he is “loving” his daughter’s work these days. He further added that he can’t believe she has become so “great.” Well, not only that, Eric further added that he is so proud of her that he “can’t see straight.”
Eric praised his daughter’s extraordinary talent, citing her recent performance in Maybe I Do. He said that from her performance in the 2023 film Maybe I Do to now, she has overwhelmed him with pride, and he just says, “Oh my god, there she is again.” The veteran actor said he is thrilled to be her father.
He said he was very proud. When asked if he had any role in Emma’s success, Eric humbly said he did nothing except giving her the name.
Eric Roberts’ complicated relationship with Julia
Eric’s relationship with his sister Julia has been tumultuous. He discussed their past issues in an interview with Vanity Fair in 2018. He mentioned his drug problems, which led to a brief rift between Julia and his sister Lisa Roberts Gillan. He said, “I wouldn’t call it estrangement. I was crazy about my sisters. Loved them, adored them.”
He said they were precious to him, and they shared many intimate moments. They all felt very protective of each other, but he said the hardest person to protect was himself.
Recalling that time, Eric admitted that it was very tiring for him to be around others: complaining, blaming and unable to enjoy life. Everyone in his world needed a break from time to time, and Julia was no exception.
The siblings reconciled after Julia and her husband Danny Moder gave birth to twins, Phinnaeus and Hazel, on November 28, 2004. Julia and Danny also have a son named Henry Daniel, born on June 18, 2007.
