Emergency Day 2 India Box Office: Kangana Ranaut’s film earns Rs 3 crore on Saturday

After a long wait, Emergency finally hits the screens on January 17, 2025. Touted as Kangana Ranaut’s much-awaited project based on the Indian Emergency, the historical biographical drama clashed with Azaad at the box office. Although Kangana’s directorial debut is receiving mixed reviews, it has failed to live up to the expectations at the ticket window.

Emergency earns Rs 3 crore on second day; Crossed Rs 5 crore in two days

Backed by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, Emergency collected Rs 3 crore on the second day of its release. After earning Rs 2.25 crore on the first day, its minimum earning on the second day was Rs 75 lakh. The latest release featuring Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade and Milind Soman has earned a total of Rs 5.25 crore in two days.

If it manages to survive on weekdays among other releases, Emergency may do well in theatres. The film was released in theaters on Cinema Lover’s Day, during which audiences purchased tickets at discounted rates. Even a day after ticket prices normalized, Kangana’s film could not bring good viewership.

The day-wise box office collection of Emergencies is as follows:

Day net box office collection
1 Rs 2.25 crore
2 Rs 3 crore
Total Rs 5.25 crore

There was an emergency delay in CBFC approval last year

Emergency was initially scheduled to release on September 6, 2024. However, the Kangana Ranaut-starrer faced delays in certification clearance by the Central Board of Film Certification. In October last year, the Censor Board had approved the emergency.

In Emergency, Kangana plays the role of late former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi, who imposed a 21-month emergency period in our country from 1975 to 1977. Anupam Kher has been cast in the role of Jaiprakash Narayan. Shreyas Talpade plays the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Milind Soman plays Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.
