Dhanush’s D55 with Rajkumar Periyasamy titled Om, teaser hints at social unrest
This film of actor Dhanush and director Rajkumar Periyasamy has been named Om. The makers announced the title with a serious first-look teaser on Thursday.
Actor-director Dhanush’s much-awaited 55th film has finally got a title. Manufacturers unveiled on Thursday Om As the official title of the actor’s upcoming collaboration with director Rajkumar Periyasamy, it was also announced that the film will release in theaters on October 16.
While the makers have kept the plot under wraps, the title announcement teaser offers a glimpse into the world of the film. The promo features burning vehicles, massive protests, stock market scenes and Indian currency notes raining from the sky, hinting towards a high-stakes action drama based on the themes of power, money and revolution.

earlier it was called D55Along with Dhanush, Sai Pallavi and Mammootty also play important roles in the film. Sreeleela, who made her Tamil debut parashakti (2026), and veteran actor Indran is also part of the cast.

Om It is Dhanush’s first collaboration with Rajkumar Periyasamy, who made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed film Amaran. In the 2024 film, Sivakarthikeyan played the role of Major Mukund Varadarajan, who was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry award.

Produced by Dhanush under his home banner, Wunderbar Films, in collaboration with Shraddha Aggarwal’s R Tech Studios, Om comprises the technical team of composer Sai Abhyankar, cinematographer Ezil Arasu, editor Kalaivanan, choreographer Sandy and stunt director Yannick Benn.
Dhanush was last seen karadirector Por Thozil Filmmaker Vignesh Raja. His upcoming slate also includes a biopic on former President APJ Abdul Kalam and a biopic based on the life of legendary musician Ilaiyaraaja.
