It’s that time of year again – Apple should be unveiling the next generation of iPhone a month from now. However, older models are already on discount in anticipation of it, let’s take a look.
All iPhone 15 models are available right now at £100 off. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are (so far) the only models to support Apple Intelligence, which is currently in beta. They also feature 120Hz displays and telephoto lenses (77mm on the Pro, 120mm on the Pro Max), which are things the vanilla iPhone 16 and 16 Plus won’t have.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have a 48MP main camera that does in-sensor zoom. It doesn’t have the reach of optical zoom, but it’s a lot better than the previous vanilla model. Plus, they have a dynamic island style display instead of the old-fashioned notch of the 14-series. That and a USB-C connector. However, they don’t have the chipset and RAM needed to run Apple intelligence.

Of course, if you’re buying an older iPhone, you might as well buy an even older iPhone. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are still available with their notch displays, 12MP main camera and Lightning port. Right now, the 14 Plus (128GB) is £200 off, making it the same price as the iPhone 14.
Keep in mind these discounts are relative to the already reduced prices of the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. These two cost £850 and £950 when they first launched in 2022.

Moving on, a couple of Android tablets from Samsung are next. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE+ use IPS LCDs, 10.9” and 12.4” respectively, running at 90Hz. Both tablets are powered by the Exynos 1380 and feature dust and water resistance (IP68). Both support DeX, but without wired or wireless video out.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ is the cheaper option. It has an 11” LCD (also 90Hz) and runs on the older Snapdragon 695 chipset. It has quad speakers and expandable memory, so it’s a great entertainment machine. Note that the version with 128GB of storage has twice as much RAM (8GB).

Finally, Samsung’s affordable Galaxy Watch FE features an aluminium frame, while the Apple Watch SE is rumoured to be switching to plastic. This model is only available in a 40mm size (1.2” display) and uses the previous Exynos W920 (5nm) chipset. Note that Amazon Prime Student subscribers get an extra £15 off the price.
