Daddy Yankee is accusing his estranged wife Miradis Gonzalez of withdrawing $100 million from two of his corporate bank accounts without his knowledge or permission amid their ongoing divorce. According to court documents obtained by Billboard, a Puerto Rican rapper named Ramon Luis Ayala Rodriguez claims Gonzalez took $80 million from his El Cartel Records account and $20 million from his Los Cangros account.
Gonzalez reportedly served as CEO, and his sister, Ayecha Gonzalez Castellanos, as secretary/treasurer of the record label founded by the musician.
According to the reggaeton artist, the alleged embezzlement of company funds occurred on Thursday after he had already revoked the sisters’ authority and warned them against carrying out any transactions on behalf of the business. In their filing, Yankee also mentioned that they lack the access, intervention and information they are entitled to in relation to all the assets they are acquiring and generating.
They asked the court to immediately remove the sisters from any and all operations of their corporations and to direct them to safely deliver up any information or documents they have illegally withheld.
The Grammy winner claimed that the duo unfairly gained more power than they should have over El Cartel’s operations, resulting in a “harmful and negligent conduct of the company.”
Furthermore, they alleged that they failed to submit accurate accounts of their operations, neglected corporate law formalities and requirements, and made irresponsible financial decisions.
For example, Yankee claimed that Gonzalez sold its music catalog to Concord at an amount that was far below its potential value by hiring a third party to represent El Cartel.
The Gasolina chart-topper was reportedly not provided a copy of the contract documents and was unaware of the scope of the transaction or the details of what was or was not sold, including any limits on the use of his musical compositions. Was also included.
Gonzalez and Gonzalez Castellanos have not yet responded to the matter.
