The makers of Dhanush’s upcoming film, tentatively titled D55, have been continuously releasing major updates, creating strong buzz around the project. Recently, the team announced that actor Sreeleela will play the lead role opposite Dhanush. Now, the latest development confirms that there is another lead female character in the film, who will be portrayed by acclaimed actor and dancer Sai Pallavi.
Sai Pallavi joins Dhanush after scoring 55 runs
The makers welcomed Sai Pallavi for D55. He tweeted at This project marks the second collaboration of Dhanush and Sai Pallavi after Maari 2. Their duet became extremely popular, especially due to the chart-topping song Rowdy Baby, whose energetic choreography turned into a cultural phenomenon. With D55, the audience can look forward to seeing the pair on the big screen once again after 8 years.

D55 is directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy, who recently delivered a blockbuster with Amaran. The film reportedly revolves around unsung heroes who blend seamlessly into everyday society. It is being produced by Gopuram Films, with Wunderbar Films and R Tech Studios as co-producers. Young music sensation Sai Abhyankar has been chosen as the music composer.
The production house had earlier introduced Sreeleela with the caption, "You didn’t see it coming. Welcoming the dazzling young lady @sreeleela14 to #D55." Music director Sai Abhyankar was also brought on board with an equally creative announcement: "time’s up. SAI-The lens breaks. Excited to have the sensational @SaiAbhyankkar as the composer of #D55. D55 marks Rajkumar Periyasamy’s first on-screen collaboration with Dhanush and it is being projected on a grand scale. The film is scheduled to release in summer 2026 and the expectations have increased further due to its strong cast and technical crew. With the entry of Sai Pallavi after Sreeleela and Sai Abhyankar, this project is shaping up to be one of the most awaited Tamil films.
