Chhava Exclusive: Rashmika Mandanna recalls how she couldn’t believe she was offered the role of a Maharashtrian queen; ‘I am from the South, how can you…’

Rashmika Mandanna who is currently enjoying the success of her film Pushpa 2, will soon be seen in Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava. Recently, he recalled that when he was offered the film, he loved the script and immediately agreed. But, she couldn’t believe why the filmmaker chose her, an actress from South India, to play the role of a Maharashtrian queen.

In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, Rashmika Mandanna opens up about working on the much-awaited film Chhaava. The actress immediately said yes after hearing the script for the first time, contrary to her usual approach of thinking too much about every project.

Rashmika continued to describe the transformative process of preparing for the role. Recalling her look test for the film, she said that after the look test she was surprised to see herself. Apart from dressing up like a queen, her facial features and style also matched the role.

“Look, the exam has come. Oh my God, guys, I am obsessed with my acting in the film. I wonder how I can look like Vicky. I think I once said that she looks more Maharashtrian than a Maharashtrian It’s really true because suddenly, my features, my body language and everything changed,” Rashmika shared.

The Animal actress also praised her co-star Vicky Kaushal and director Laxman Utekar for their work in the film. She said that he has worked hard, and when she saw the trailer and song of the film, she could not stop praising his art.

Mandanna said, “I saw the trailer, and I saw a song. Well, my God I liked Vicky in the film, guys, let’s just give it a moment. Vicky has killed it, and Laxman sir has killed it. My God, I can’t. I’m appreciating his art, it’s amazing.”

Set to bring a brave tale from history to the big screen, Chhaavaa stars Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna among others. It has been directed by Laxman Utekar. This film was going to clash with Pushpa 2 at the box office. However, later the makers changed its release date to 14 February 2024.
