  • He feels that it was due to lack of similar homegron materials

When Palki Malhotra was pitching a dance-based fiction show, ‘Campus Beats’ on the OTT, she knew very little that it was going to be a long-term commitment. Fifth season of Young adult show starring Shantinu Maheshwari And Shruti Sinha recently dropped, and for the manufacturer, it is a reliability that produced magic. He discussed how young viewers are bending towards Korean material today because there is nothing to consume them in India. Arguing the incident, Malhotra said that the youth had nothing to see during Kovid, when the oat boom was also, and they slowly began to bow down to these international shows.

“I think everyone took to Korean plays because their hearts wanted to see or feel that kind of love during that time. And from there, when it started-the frenzy of such a story saying. And it went away just because, honestly, there was nothing on the TV for this, so I had nothing.

Malhotra said that when he first saw K-Drama, he realized that he was not very different from what we offer, but with a much better budget. However, he said that his success in India was done only because there was no other show in the same language.

“We do not have many stories that talk about the issues of young people’s relationship, and so honestly and openly. We touched so many issues that affect young hearts and minds. Therefore, Campus Beats were not considered just another show, but something that used to talk to young people,” Malhotra said.

Many would know that when he got a new career in digital space, Palki Malhotra started his career with television – a medium that once had special material for young India for ‘Dil Mill Gaye’, ‘Dil Dosti Dance’ to ‘Remix’ and ‘Kaisi Yeh Yaarion’. However, the Creative Head emphasized that the TV Today is also losing to the audience as no one wants to make materials for the youth.

“There are some television shows that cannot find numbers, but do digitally well. But I think we have really lost the youth. The day we stopped eating for their feelings, we lost them. And now they do not want to go back to TV because they feel that there is nothing for them. People don’t want to use anymore.”

He said that after this change, researchers started taking calls instead of creative. Referring to his time on ‘Dil Mill Gayay’ and ‘Miley Jab Hum Tum’, the palanquin mentioned that they do not manage to do half of those things in the show when they are ‘care’ about the result.

“Hindi television is a very frightened platform. Many platforms, sponsorship, advertising revenue, and brands are not as much money as it used to. So, I think I think they feel that they feel that they need to be safe. But among many safe projects, we can do at least one show.

‘Campus Beats’ is streaming on Amazon MX Player.
