After his last project – Annie – which came out in 2014, actor Cameron Diaz went on an indefinite hiatus. Now, the Charlie’s Angels actor opened up about his decision to step away from acting at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit on Monday, October 14.

“It was something I just had to do. I felt like it was the right thing to do to get my life back and I didn’t really care about anything else. “No one’s opinion, no one’s success, no one’s offer, no amount of anything from anyone could change my mind about my decision to take care of myself and create the life I really wanted,” Diaz said.

Reflecting on her decision to return to acting, Diaz credited her family for their support. “It was the perfect time for my family,” he said. Post-Covid, we were home for a long time, which was surprising and the problem was that we would probably stay there… so I had to push myself; My husband and I – my husband, who is the best – he said, ‘You’re supporting us and building a family,’… he said, ‘It’s a great way for us to support you and to keep mom going. It’s time for him to talk. ,

After 10 years, Diaz is set to return to the big screen in Netflix’s Back in Action, co-starring Jamie Foxx, which will premiere in January 2025. This reunion is their third film together, following their collaboration in Annie and 1999’s Annie Given Sunday. ,

Diaz expressed her excitement about working with Fox again, saying, “I couldn’t say no to Jamie. He said, ‘Come with me’ and I said, ‘Okay let’s do it.'”

Additionally, Diaz is reportedly set to return for the highly anticipated Shrek 5 and is in talks to star opposite Keanu Reeves in the dark comedy Outcome.

On the personal front, Diaz married Good Charlotte musician Benji Madden and had two children – daughter Radix and son Cardinal. He also ventured into the world of business in 2020, launching clean wine brand Evelyn with partner Katherine Power.
