Charlie Orchard-Lisle was spending time with his family on East Lane beach in the village of Bowdsey, Suffolk, when he noticed a strangely shaped object resting near the oncoming waves. It stood out enough for both Charlie and his mother Eleanor to stop to take a closer look.Despite being worn with age, this artifact looked different from other stones. Rather than write off the item as just another rock, the family chose to keep it, feeling it could be something special. As it turns out, they were right about this because experts studied the fossil and found that it was actually the tusk of an elephant that lived for about two million years.It was discovered that the fossil was an upper left molar that belonged to an extinct type of elephant known as Anancus avernensis. According to the New York Post, it was Professor Adrian Lister, a paleontologist at the Natural History Museum of London, who verified the discovery. The molar is approximately four inches in size and still has much of its coating intact due to being buried in sediment for so many years.
