Boston Public star Rashida Jones recalls 1993 argument with Tupac Shakur; claims she was ‘enraged’ by rapper’s comments

Renowned actress and filmmaker Rashida Jones recalled an argument she had with rapper Tupac Shakur in 1993, when the artist made a comment about the actress’ father. In a conversation with The New Yorker, Jones revealed that although she had a few arguments with the rapper, the matter had resolved itself before Shakur’s untimely death.

The actress, who was 17 at the time, released a note, writing that the rapper’s comments were filled with “ignorance and a lack of respect for his people.”

The argument between Rashida Jones and Tupac Shakur

The argument between The Office actress and Shakur came after the rapper allegedly made comments about Jones’ father, Quincy Jones. Mr. Jones is a famous music producer, and the rapper caught him in the headlines for having children with a white woman. The actress did not like these statements, and she lashed out at the artist, calling him disrespectful.

Jones claimed in an interview with the media outlet that after the incident, she was “very upset” and “enraged” by the things that were said about her father. “Now that I’m older I understand it even better. It felt like a completely unjustified attack,” the actress revealed.

The actress further added, “My father doesn’t work for the government. He’s a music producer. How he chooses to live his life and who he loves is his own business, and I’ve always felt that way.”

Although heated comments were exchanged between both parties, Jones still managed to give the rapper a chance to tell his side of the story.

Rashida Jones forgave Tupac Shakur

After a heated argument between the actress and the rapper, Jones cleared things up with Tupac Shakur when the artist met Rashida Jones’ older sister and apologized. Shortly after the episode, Kidada Jones and Shakur began dating, and the actress revealed that he was like a family member to her.

“It actually got resolved really well because when I met him, he immediately apologised to me, apologised to my dad. We sat down and had a really nice conversation about it, and then he became family,” the Silo actress added.

In Quincy Jones’ 2001 autobiography, Kidada wrote about her relationship with the late rapper and called him the love of her life.
