Anil Kapoor talks FTII rejection, stardom, signature style and Dhurandhar 2. see
At the India Today Conclave 2026 in New Delhi, actor Anil Kapoor reflected on his early struggles in the film industry. He recalled how he was heartbroken after being rejected by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
Speaking during a session titled The Ageless Revel: Rewriting the Rules of Stardom, Kapoor also addressed comparisons with legendary star Dev Anand. He said that no one can match this icon and stressed on creating his own identity in cinema.
The 69-year-old also revealed how he adopted stubble to look older at a time when “he-men” like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna dominated the industry. Over time, this look became one of his most recognizable trademarks.
Finally, he opened up about turning down a cameo role in one of the most anticipated films of 2026- Dhurandhar: Revenge.

Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2026, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, who is responsible for the party’s organizational affairs, told Rajdeep Sardesai that the party has lost faith in the Election Commission of India as it has become partisan under the Narendra Modi government.
