Anil Kapoor decodes Majnu Bhai’s painting in Welcome: It has depth beyond memes
At a Holi special show, Anil Kapoor revisited the hilarious painting done by his character Majnu Bhai in the 2007 hit film Welcome. Revealing that he still owns the original work, he said that the painting is widely used in memes, but it has a deeper meaning.

Both Akshay and Anil were among the multi-star cast of the 2007 hit film, WelcomeAnd at one point in the show, an audience member, describing himself as a devoted fan of both the actors, showed a version of the painting he had brought, and asked Anil about the story behind it. Surprising everyone, the actor shared that the original piece used in the film is still with him.

The actor then explained the meaning behind the painting, which depicts a donkey riding a horse. He said that the horse symbolizes hard work and energy, while the donkey represents someone who does not put in much effort. Humorously, he compared it to office life and said that often the people who work hardest do not get credit. He also jokingly asked the audience if they saw themselves as a horse or a donkey.
Reflecting on his journey with the franchise, Anil quipped, “first of all Akshay sir I did this with film It was… Welcome 1. Then he was not there in 2, then he threw me out in 3 and welcome 4 we will do it together again (First, I did Welcome 1 with Akshay saab, then he was not in Part 2, then I was dropped in Part 3, and in Welcome 4 we will be together again).”
