Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, received positive reviews after its release on the big screens on 31 October. However, the film is facing protests as some unidentified goons threw crude petrol bombs at a cinema hall which was screening the biographical war drama. According to PTI report, the incident happened in the early hours of Saturday.

Fortunately, there were no casualties in the petrol bomb attack. At the same time, the police is currently investigating the matter and trying to identify the miscreants. “Two miscreants threw petrol bombs inside the compound wall of the cinema complex at Melapalayam. It exploded. However, no one was injured and there was no damage to property,” a police officer told PTI.

According to the report of Times of India, CCTV footage has surfaced on the internet in which criminals are seen throwing three bottles of petrol at the cinema hall. Following the incident, the theater canceled two shows of Sivakarthikeyan starrer Amaran in the morning. However, they decided to resume the screening with police protection.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu BJP Vice President Narayanan Tirupati has raised his voice against this issue. He wrote a long note on his social media handle X, which read, “I strongly condemn the petrol bombs thrown at a theater in Tirunelveli.”

He further said, “Tamil Nadu police and government had assured complete security to the theaters screening this film, but they failed to do so and this reflects the plight of law and order in Tamil Nadu.”

Amaran is inspired by real life events and narrates the story of Major Mukund Varadarajan. He was a soldier of the Indian Army who heroically sacrificed his life in the service of the country. For his bravery and selflessness he was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra. The honor was accepted by his wife Indu Rebecca Varghese.

In the film, Sivakarthikeyan plays the role of Major Mukund Varadarajan, while Sai Pallavi plays the role of Sindhu Rebecca Varghese. The chemistry between the two actors was liked by the audience which contributed to the success of the film.
