Akshay Kumar reveals biggest regret of his career, says he wanted to slap himself
Actor Akshay Kumar says he feels like slapping himself after doing only action roles for a decade. Reflection presents his 35-year career as one of constant reinvention as Welcome to the Jungle nears release.

Actor Akshay Kumar said he felt like “slapping myself” after spending his first decade in Hindi cinema doing only action roles. He realized that he was stuck in that image and he needed to get out of it. The 58-year-old actor said that in a career spanning 35 years, he has been able to explore, reinvent and transform himself by moving across comedy, drama, romance and horror-comedy genres.

talking to PTIAkshay said that he had entered the film industry only to earn money, but now he considers himself lucky to have had a career that lasted for so many years. welcome to the jungle The actor also revealed that he does several films every year because he considers it his duty to contribute to the industry.
He said, “Thirty-five years is a long time… It’s a one in a billion or crore chance of a 35-year career. I hope I go ahead and cross 40 years. Pray I keep shooting just for five minutes before I die. In the beginning, when I came into the industry, I just wanted to make money.”
“But after that decade, when I watched my films, I felt like slapping myself. I had only done action roles, and no one thought I was capable of doing anything else. I realized I needed to change myself, and I wanted to do different characters. Then I did Foul play (2000)heartbeat (2000)Will you marry me (2004), Toilet…a love story (2017) and padman (2018). “I have continued to change myself,” the actor said in the interview.
Akshay said he sees himself like a building that needs to be “dismantled” and rebuilt. The actor said that the industry has given him more than he ever thought or expected and he wants to return the favor by doing more and more films.
“I know there are people who say, ‘Why do you need to do four movies a year, why not one movie?’ But I say that I want to work every day… It is my duty to do at least four films so that there is more work and business in the industry.
“Hits and flops are part of the business, but I have to work, I have to work and that’s what I’m doing,” he said.

The actor is now ready to release his second film of the year. welcome to the jungleafter ghost bungalow. a part of Welcome franchise, the film also stars Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff and Rajpal Yadav.
Directed by Ahmed Khan, the comedy entertainer has been given a UA 16+ certificate after 18 cuts and modifications, including removal of Kashmir reference, changes in some dialogues and editing of Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez’s scenes. The runtime of the film is 164.50 minutes or 2 hours, 44 minutes and 50 seconds.
