Actress Manasi Parekh could not hold back her tears while receiving the prestigious National Award for Best Actress for her performance in the acclaimed Gujarati film, Kutch Express. The actor was honored by President Draupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on 8 October.

Mansi cried while posing in front of the camera with the award. She shared the Best Actress award with Nithya Menen, who won the award for her performance in the Dhanush-starrer Thiruchitrambalam.

Mansi had earlier spoken about the honor and told India Today Digital, “I have been flooded with calls and messages and I have been crying for an hour and a half. Now I am fine. My make-up is completely fine. Has gone.” It’s incredible, because, first of all, the fact that I got the Best Actress award, and I’m sharing it with Nithya Menen, who is another incredible regional actress, last year this award was won by Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon. During the interview, Mansi also recalled her experience shooting for Kutch Express and said, “We were working very hard and always had the feeling that this film was going to be something magical. And even Ratna Pathak Even Shah, who is so experienced, came to me after five days of shooting and said, ‘Mansi, I am very proud and happy that this is my first Gujarati film, I am very proud to work with you and your husband. ‘ We all felt that it was a very special film, now, the National Award has confirmed it, but we were always very proud of this film.”
