The makers of 52 Blue have unveiled its first look and trailer, introducing audiences to a completely transformed Neha Dhupia in a raw, outrageous role. The film focuses on the life of an Indian migrant worker against the backdrop of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The story revolves around Ashish, played by Yadav Shashidhar, a young boy who has a deep love for football. Raised on a remote island under the strict supervision of his father, Ashish grew up in a limited environment. However, with his mother’s quiet encouragement and memories of his late brother, he begins to dream of life beyond his limited world.

His desire to be free takes him abroad, where he becomes a migrant worker tied to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. What begins as a journey of survival soon turns personal, as Ashish hopes to meet his idol Lionel Messi. This experience opens his eyes to a new world, far from the restrictions under which he once lived.

Much of the film was shot in Kochi, where its coastal and island setting plays an important role in setting the mood of the story. The scenarios reflect the sense of isolation in Ashish’s early life, while also reflecting hope as the story expands from India to Qatar and the global stage of the World Cup.

Directed by Egyptian filmmaker Ali El Arabi, who also produces the project, the film is backed by his production house Ambient Light, based in Cairo and Los Angeles. Tarek-El-Nama serves as executive producer, while Chrisann Katsulis, Joe Matthews and Katara Studios serve as co-producers.
