4 of the top-10 most valuable companies have a makeup of Rs. 92,995 crore surge; HDFC Bank, Airtel Top Gainers

The combined market valuation of four of the top-10 most valuable companies last week was Rs. 92,995.48 crore, with HDFC Bank and Bharti Airtel emerging as the biggest beneficiaries.

Last week, the BSE benchmark Sensex was down 194.52 points or 0.25 percent, and the NSE Nifty was down 63.95 points or 0.26 percent.

Ajit Mishra, SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd said, “Markets ended the week marginally lower amid renewed geopolitical tensions in West Asia and sharp rise in crude oil prices.

Markets started the week on a positive note, supported by easing crude prices, encouraging Q1 business updates, improved monsoon progress and broad-based buying, he said.

However, sentiment weakened mid-week following the escalation of Iran-US tensions, which led to a sharp sell-off before the benchmark indices recovered a significant portion of the losses in the final two sessions, Mishra added.
