Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar expressed her deep grief as she paid a heartfelt tribute to her aunt on Instagram. “Menaka Aunty you shaped my life in ways that I will forever be grateful to. You taught me to read, you made me laugh, you made me listen to country music and you made me feel like the most special girl in the world. You will always be loved and never forgotten. Rest in peace. Rest in power @menekakhan (sic),” Zoya wrote.

Menaka Irani passed away on Friday, July 26 at 3 am. Film producer and casting director Mukesh Chhabra confirmed the news to IndiaToday.in. She was ill for quite some time and was in hospital. She was the sister of child actors Daisy Irani and Honey Irani.
