Actor Shantanu Bhagyaraj thanked Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay for standing by K Bhagyaraj’s family after his death and ensuring state honors at the funeral. A personal memory from his wedding is also attached to his note.

Actor Shantanu Bhagyaraj thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay for standing by his family in both happy and difficult moments following the death of filmmaker K Bhagyaraj. The veteran director-writer died of a heart attack on June 27 at the age of 73.
In an X post shared after his father’s funeral, Shantanu thanked Vijay for supporting the family and ensuring that Bhagyaraj was given farewell with state honours. He also recalled an earlier personal moment that Vijay had handed him Plate (Mangalsutra) at her wedding.

Started his note in Tamil by addressing him as Honorable Chief Minister and ended by calling him Vijay Anna (Brother), Shantanu shared pictures with Vijay from their father’s funeral on Instagram.
His post in Tamil translates as, “How can I limit my gratitude to you to mere words? In fact, it is a debt of gratitude that will last as long as I live. You made my wedding day a joy by personally handing over.” Plate (Mangalsutra) And I still haven’t finished thanking you for this.
He added, “And then, when you came to offer condolences after my father’s death – that sad, sad day of my life – I was deeply moved to see that you put aside your official status and graciously knelt down to console my mother.”
Shantanu further wrote, “Royal honour! To be honored even in death is a great privilege for an artiste. I will remember with gratitude till my last moments, the royal honour, befitting his name, that you bestowed upon my father. What more is there to say? Heartfelt gratitude, with folded hands Anna“
Shantanu’s tribute to his father
After the funeral, Shantanu also shared a picture with his father Bhagyaraj and reflected on his legacy. He wrote, “The film industry was once entirely my father’s world; later, it expanded to become my own world, gradually growing into a close-knit family and a cherished bond.”
She also thanked those who supported her and her family, writing, “The stalwarts of the film industry and all my friends – who were there for me, are there and always will be: like loving hands when I lost my father – like a banyan tree that fell before its aerial roots could become a tree – served as the solid ground that kept my faltering steps steady, and hearts that beat for me when my hearts were ready to burst.” Worked as – what else can I offer other than my heartfelt gratitude?”
Bhagyaraj was cremated with full state honors at Besant Nagar electric crematorium on Sunday. Vijay, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Mammootty, Suhasini, Radhika Sarathkumar and many others paid tribute to the legend. He is survived by his wife, actor Purnima Bhagyaraj, son Shantanu and daughter Sharanya.
