Xreal Aura Glasses unveiled with Android XR and new Snapdragon Reality Elite

Xreal unveiled its new Aura Glasses – these are spatial computing glasses that run Android XR, giving them support for a wide range of applications right out of the gate.

The glasses feature an optical see-through (OST) display that covers a 70° field of view. This virtual display is created by two Sony Micro-OLED displays with 1,920 x 1,200px resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The displays are transparent, so you can see your surroundings clearly and people around you can see your eyes. However, there’s also electrochromic dimming for when you want to focus “on the screen.”

If you are a heavy multitasker, you will be able to have up to 5 floating app windows at the same time. Naturally, Gemini is available as a standard part of Android XR.

These glasses have a split design – the newly announced Snapdragon Reality Elite chipset is inside the “compute puck” and runs Android XR and your apps. There will be two configurations available: 12/256GB and 16/512GB.

There’s also a 4,455mAh battery (34.84Wh), which takes the weight off your head. Inside the glasses is the Xreal X1S spatial co-processor – it handles things that require low-latency processing and sensor and display tasks.

The glasses have 6 DoF tracking. And they have cameras with an LED that will alert people around you when said camera is activated. Hand-tracking is the default input method to the Gemini, except for voice commands. There are two USB-C ports on the board – one goes over the glasses, but the other can be used for external power or video input (DisplayPort In).

Snap just launched the Specs AR glasses yesterday – which cost $2,195 and run proprietary software instead of Android XR. To be fair,

If you want Xreal glasses, you have two options. First, you can try to reserve a Founders Pass – there are only 2,000 available (and a quarter are already gone), but it’s worth the $300 discount. You can also make a regular reservation for $100 and get a $200 credit when Aura launches.

Visit the Xreal Aura reservations page for more information. The glasses will be out this fall.
