Xiaomi is set to launch its flagship Xiaomi 15 series in China tomorrow, October 23. The series will likely include two smartphones: the Xiaomi 15, and the Xiaomi 15 Pro. Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to launch later. With only a few hours left until the phones go official, several rumors about Xiaomi flagship devices provide a clear picture of what we can expect from them. For example, rumors suggest that the Xiaomi 15 series could be the first phones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset aka Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which was recently launched at the Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii.

Xiaomi 15 series: India price and launch timeline

The Xiaomi 15 series is expected to be more expensive than the 14 series. There are rumors that the devices could be costlier by Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000. For perspective, the Xiaomi 14 series price in India started at Rs 69,999.

In India, from the flagship 14 series, Xiaomi launched two smartphones: Xiaomi 14, and Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The Pro was a China only version. The same could happen again with the Xiaomi 15 series. As for the launch timeline in India, like last year, the smartphone can be expected to release sometime in March next year.

Xiaomi 15 series: leaked specs and features

The standard Xiaomi 15 is expected to maintain a compact form factor similar to the Xiaomi 14 and 13. It may feature a 3.36-inch flat AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, possibly equipped with LTPO technology, as seen on the Xiaomi 14. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 15 Pro may feature a larger 6.78-inch quad-curved 2K AMOLED screen with the same 120Hz refresh rate with support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and a wide color gamut (DCI-P3).

The Xiaomi 15 series will reportedly be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. As detailed by Qualcomm in a recent launch, the new Snapdragon chipset is built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm process and features a significant performance boost, including an Adreno GPU that is up to 45 percent faster than its predecessor. Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 Pro model may include 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, while the standard model will likely start with a minimum of 12GB of RAM.

Xiaomi’s partnership with Leica is expected to continue in terms of photography. Xiaomi 15 Pro may be equipped with a 50-megapixel Lite Fusion 900 series main camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and macro capabilities, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. Its compact counterpart, the Xiaomi 15, is rumored to have a 50-megapixel OV50H primary camera, along with a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom and an ultra-wide sensor. Both phones can have a 32-megapixel front camera for selfies.

Battery life is another area where the Xiaomi 15 series looks set to improve. The standard model may have a 5,500mAh battery with support for 90W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging, which is a notable upgrade from the Xiaomi 14’s 4,610mAh capacity. The Pro variant may feature a larger 6,000mAh battery with similar fast charging capabilities. As for durability, both models are expected to have an IP68 rating, offering protection against dust and water. Xiaomi will also introduce HyperOS 2.0 with this series, which is a new Android 15-based software skin.
