Satya Seelvan (Abishan Jeevinth) is a smart young man, insecure, who yearns for a meaningful relationship. His broken relationship with his father is always off topic for him, but it is his sister (Anandi) who inspires him to move forward in his personal life. She takes him on a coffee date with his school junior Monisha (Anaswara Rajan), where the two share stories, discover their common connections and decide whether to go on a date or not.

Satya and Monisha realize that there is unrequited love in their lives and decide to find their school crush to express their feelings. And in the process of doing so, they discover whether they are compatible and attracted enough to take the relationship forward. At two hours 21 minutes, with love It aims to tell a warm romantic story from a today’s perspective.

Director Madan’s with love It takes a good time to get your attention. The initial part starts with Abhishan Jeevinth living his role (as Sathyan) honestly. However, it takes some time for the director-turned-actor to find his groove. Once it settles in and makes Satya the neighbor boy, the story pulls you in. The school flashback portions highlight Abishyan’s inexperience as an actor, but he impresses in the present-day portions by portraying the weakness, fear, and shyness in approaching a woman.

It is Anaswara Rajan who mesmerizes us all with her lovely acts and more importantly, the comedy she does. Her small expressions, the spark of ruggedness of a backbencher and the love in her eyes make Monisha one of the most loved characters. with love Takes us down memory lane to school days when glances meant love, flames meant affirmation and holding hands meant forever. It also highlights how bullying, introversion and insecurities change and shape a person.

with love It’s a mixed bag – although there are some interesting ideas, it doesn’t come together as a whole. Abishan has emotional resentment towards Sathyan over his love life with his sister, but this feeling does not go further. The reason behind this separation is that the film does not establish more than a few video calls between the brother and sister. We get dialogues about Sathyan’s broken relationship with his father, but the story does not progress beyond that. The film would have benefited from showing their bond instead of just telling us about it.

Sathyan, as an adult, has been labeled an endangered green forest by Anaswara. However, his character displays red flag behavior such as checking his partner’s phone and pointing out his flaws during confrontations. But, this aspect is hardly explored, as Monisha is ignoring her flaws as they are harmless to her.

Anaswara’s school love story is sweet, but when she meets her crush as an adult, the transformation feels unconvincing. Despite the shortcomings, Anaswara’s performance makes it a success. It’s also interesting to see a woman going after what she wants. After Abhishan and Anaswara, Kavya Anil’s Esther lights up the screen and takes us back to school days.

with love It finds its footing when both leads explore each other, confront past regrets, and reach a favorable state in their relationship. Shreyas Krishna’s scenes exude freshness. They are hot, colorful and young. Sean Roldan’s songs and background music also help keep the film fresh. but the inclusion of classic awal varuvala song from nerukku ner It did not appear merely as a means of garnering applause.

with love The big score connects Abishyan and Anaswara’s stories well, but it lacks the cohesion to emerge as a completely satisfying romantic drama.
