Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are expected to reunite for the director’s upcoming film.

The actor and filmmaker collaborated on Edward Scissorhands, and Burton has clarified that the Pirates of the Caribbean star will not be making a sequel to the previous film and will instead come up with something different.

Speaking with Indie Wire, the filmmaker shared his thoughts about bringing Depp to the big screen.

Speaking to the media portal, the director shared, “There are some films that I don’t want to make sequels to.”

He added, “I didn’t want to make a sequel because it felt like a one-time thing. I didn’t want to make a sequel to The Nightmare Before Christmas because that also felt like a one-time thing.” Some things are better left alone and for me this is one of them.

The director claimed that he was not thinking of making any film in which the characters had sharp objects instead of fingers. He responded to the interviewer by asking if the filmmaker was interested in bringing Depp back on board. The director immediately said, “Okay, I’m sure it will.”

Furthermore, Burton revealed, “I never felt like, ‘Oh, I’m going to use this and that actor.’ It usually has to be based on the project I’m working on. That’s what the film is about, collaboration and bouncing ideas off people around you.”

The last collaboration between Burton and Depp was on the 2012 film Dark Shadows.

The pair also starred together in the films Ed Wood (1994), Sleepy Hollow (1999), Corpse Bride (2005), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), and Alice in Work done. Wonderland (2010).
