Actors Matt Damon and Tom Holland have found a new source of inspiration in Bollywood. During an exclusive interview with India Today while promoting odyssey With director Christopher Nolan in Mumbai, the Hollywood stars talked about their love for Indian films, the infectious energy of Indian audiences, and why they would happily sign a Bollywood project with the right story.

Speaking about the possibility of working in India, Holland said that he would be very happy to be a part of a Bollywood or Indian film if the right opportunity presented itself.

“If there was any way I could deepen that relationship with you guys in a Bollywood film or an Indian film, I would jump at the opportunity,” the Spider-Man actor said.

The discussion then turned to Bollywood and how Indian cinema is often viewed in the West. Bollywood is often seen through the lens of song, dance and spectacle and Damon believes that’s what makes it so special. And if anyone is up for the challenge, he thinks it’s his co-star.

Damon laughed, “We were just saying we want to do a Bollywood movie because Tom can actually do it because he’s an amazing dancer and I’ll try to learn. I’ll do my best.”

The Oscar-winning actor revealed that what fascinates him is not just the elaborate musical numbers of Bollywood, but also the happiness that comes through them. He also acknowledged that Hollywood does not produce many stars with the kind of all-round performance skills that Bollywood still celebrates.

“The older I get, the more joy I want in my work and my life. So I’d love to try that, especially if I had a co-star like her, because I think she’s the only person who can do what Fred Astaire did, right? There used to be a skill set that some of our greatest movie stars had, as the nature of film has changed in Hollywood, that’s disappearing. So I’d love to see her apply that skill set that she has, “Damon said.

He said, “I’m very fortunate to be a part of the MCU and it’s been very well accepted here. I really enjoy watching you guys on YouTube react to those big moments in cinema. It feels more like a rock concert than going to the cinema.”

Meanwhile, Damon and Holland play father-son duo Odysseus and Telemachus in Nolan’s epic drama. The team held an early India premiere over the weekend, and photos of them café-hopping and interacting with fans took social media by storm.
