Trump’s threat came after a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security failed in the Senate on Friday. Democrats refused to provide the support needed to move the funding measure toward final passage. Democrats are demanding changes to immigration enforcement practices by federal agents following the shooting deaths of Alex Pretty and Renee Good in Minneapolis.The House Committee on Homeland Security scheduled a hearing for Wednesday to review the impact of the partial shutdown on the TSA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies within DHS.
