Will Meemaw appear in the Young Sheldon sequel Georgie and Mandy’s first wedding? Annie Potts hints at her presence

Annie Potts has hinted at what’s next for her character Meemaw in new show Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage after the end of Young Sheldon. The new series, which is a sequel to Young Sheldon, will focus on Georgie and Mandy and their families.

Annie Potts reveals her character Meemaw’s appearance in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage

Potts recently shared a photo of her character’s sign on Instagram, as well as the show’s official logo. In another photo, she is seen with Rachel Bay Jones and Melissa Peterman. Jones, who plays Mandy’s mom on Young Sheldon, and Peterman, who plays Brenda Sparks, will be part of the new series.

Jones’ character Audrey and Will Sasso’s character Jim McAllister will appear as series regulars. Mandy’s brother Connor will be played by Dougie Baldwin, who replaces Joseph Apollonio. Jesse Praz will also play Ruben, an employee at Jim’s tire shop.

Will Meemaw appear regularly as Meemaw in Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage?

It is uncertain whether Meemaw will continue to appear after the first episode. The show will be shot as a multi-camera sitcom with a live audience, similar to The Big Bang Theory. The show will focus on Montana Jordan’s Georgie and Emily Osment’s Mandy, with guest appearances from the original Young Sheldon stars. In the first episode, Zoe Perry (Mary Cooper) and Annie Potts (Meemaw) will appear, although these were filmed separately from the live studio audience.

While it’s not certain whether Meemaw and Mary will appear in future episodes, CBS may bring Mary back since she had a key role in the family’s storyline following George’s death on The Big Bang Theory.

The new series may also feature other familiar characters, including Regan Revord’s Missy, who will appear in the second episode.

It has not yet been confirmed whether Iain Armitage will return as Sheldon Cooper, but there is a possibility that he could appear in the holiday episodes. The show’s producers have expressed interest in bringing back Young Sheldon characters occasionally, without making them regular guest stars.

Iain Armitage, who plays Sheldon, said he would love to come back if asked and is also excited to see the new show. Georgie and Mandy’s first wedding is set to premiere on CBS on October 17, 2024.
