Kim Cattrall revealed that she will not be reprising her role of Samantha Jones in the upcoming season of And Just Like That. On her X account, the actress confirmed that she will not be returning to the show for Season 3. Elle Magazine made a statement about the actress’ possible return to the show and wrote, “It looks like #KimCatttrall (aka Samantha Jones) will be back for And Just Like That… Season 3, finally!”
Responding to the media portal’s claims, Cattrall retweeted the article, and the actress wrote, “Oh, that’s so kind. But I’m not.” The Sex and the City star also clarified in her interview with Today in 2023 that she will not be returning for the third season.

Ever since the actress’ cameo in season 2 of And Just Like That, rumours have been rife that the Hollywood star will appear in the third season as well. Speaking to Hoda and Jenna on the Today show, Cattrall clarified that she has no intention of returning to the show. However, speaking fondly about her character, the actress shared, “I don’t think I’ll ever say goodbye to Samantha. She’s like so many other characters I’ve played over the years.”
She added, “I get very emotionally attached to my characters and protective of them. She’s given me so much, and I appreciate that so much.” Over the years, Cattrall has reportedly refused any association with the Sex and the City franchise due to tensions among the cast. Meanwhile, the actress remains closely associated with one of its most iconic characters, Samantha Jones.

Samantha Jones’ appearance in season two of And Just Like That
Speaking about her character, Cattrall elaborated on how Samantha was introduced in the first two seasons of And Just Like That. “Samantha exists in Season 1 and through text in Season 2. It was a nice nod to 25 years of (Sex and the City) to add a face to the text,” the actress shared.
He added, “And it’s a very appropriate moment in the story — a pivotal event happening in Carrie’s life — that Samantha called, and they had a quick, sweet, sentimental, funny call. And it felt just normal and really nice, and I’m so glad we were able to manage it, work it out, and get it sorted out timing-wise and schedule-wise.”
The shooting of And Just Like That has begun in New York. The makers will release more details about the show soon.
