Wicked: For Good becomes the first Broadway movie to gross $226 million worldwide
Universal’s highly anticipated musical ‘Wicked: For Good’ has made a remarkable debut with excellent box office earnings and audience response, setting new records for a Broadway musical adaptation.

‘Wicked: For Good’ has made a huge splash at the global box office. Universal’s latest musical blockbuster earned notable numbers over Thanksgiving weekend, collecting $150 million in North America and $226 million worldwide, now the biggest opening for a Broadway musical on screen.

The debut also marks Universal’s second-biggest debut in North America behind ‘Jurassic World’, and it stands as the second-biggest pre-Thanksgiving weekend launch behind ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’.
The strong opening follows the success of last year’s first installment of ‘Wicked,’ which grossed nearly $750 million worldwide and revived faith in large-scale musical productions.
Meanwhile, Disney and 20th Century’s “Predator: Badlands” finished fourth with $6.3 million over the same weekend, bringing its domestic total to $76.3 million and worldwide cume to $159.6 million.
