A showgirl’s life isn’t over, really, it seems, and Taylor Swift, the mastermind behind it, has pulled off another golden moment. On February 4 local time, a countdown on their website featured an upcoming music video for a popular track from their twelfth studio album, Opalite.
Life of a Showgirl gets its second music video with Opalite release
Taylor Swift has confirmed the release of an Opalite music video. However, one detail did not go unnoticed by his fans, as it stated that the clip would only be available on Apple Music and Spotify Premium. Typically, Taylor Swift and almost everyone else in the music industry will release their music videos on YouTube, mainly because it will bring monetary gain, but also because it will count towards the streaming data that will make the artists chart on music lists around the world.
With Billboard’s recent update announcing that YouTube will no longer be included in their charting system, it seems like songwriters have chosen a more effective way to get themselves some more streams and definitely a higher spot on the charts.
It’s clear that the singer aims to change the way music videos are consumed around the world. However, this in no way diminishes the importance of the platform, as after arriving exclusively on Apple Music and Spotify Premium on Friday, February 6th at 8am ET, the music video will be available on those platforms for a few days until February 8th at 8am ET, when it will be released on YouTube.
With this announcement, Taylor Swift has officially launched a new Opalite Blue Pearlescent vinyl on her website, with pre-orders open until February 6th at 7pm ET or while supplies last. The song initially debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and remains a strong placeholder for the album, Life of a Showgirl, with its latest ranking at number 10. It follows the single The Fate of Ophelia, which was the album’s top ranking track upon its October 2025 release.
