Salma Hayek has always been open about her life, and recently, she shared an important detail about her marriage to Kering CEO François-Henri Pinault. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the actress revealed that she and her multimillionaire husband never signed a prenuptial agreement after tying the knot in 2009.
Instead of relying on their luck, Hayek talked about their financial independence and desire to build their wealth. “I’m very supportive of many aspects of my life and myself,” she said. “I have pressure to make a certain amount of money and I love it. And now, I’ve decided, I want to make more.”
Hayek and Pinault, whose company oversees high-end brands such as Gucci, Balenciaga and Saint Laurent, manage their finances separately. This setup allows Frida Starr to focus on her financial growth. Despite her husband’s massive net worth of $21.8 billion, Hayek is proud of her independent achievements and often seeks out new opportunities.
The actress shared that her daughter Valentina is now 17 and as she approaches adulthood, Hayek feels inspired to pursue business ideas. Although she kept the specifics a secret, she mentioned that Pinault supports her ambitions. “I think he finds it quite sexy,” she said.
Salma Hayek’s journey extends beyond acting. The Oscar-nominated star has a prosperous career in Hollywood and has also ventured into production. He has successfully balanced this with his philanthropic work, to which he is deeply committed.
Over the years, she has worked with the Kering Foundation, which aims to combat gender-based violence. Their involvement has turned the foundation’s annual fundraising dinner in New York into a must-see event, raising $3 million this year alone.
Reflecting on her inspirations, Hayek shared that she enjoys the pressure of earning her own money and supporting her lifestyle. “For me, the excitement of having a lot of money was that I didn’t have to think about money,” she said.
Nevertheless, she acknowledged that the affair with her wealthy husband changed some aspects of her social interactions. “It turned out that all people wanted to talk to me about was money,” she said, adding that strangers who are also wealthy often approach her in hopes of a connection.
Although Hayek grew up in a wealthy family in Mexico, her life took a turn at the age of 20 when her father lost his fortune. She had recently moved to Los Angeles and was struggling to make it in Hollywood. His career eventually took off, but he always maintained a strong work ethic and passion for his art.
Her husband, François-Henri Pinault, has also made significant progress in his career. In September 2023, Pinault’s investment firm became the majority owner of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), marking another major milestone for his business empire. His wide-ranging enterprises span luxury fashion and talent management.
