Before giving the Union Budget 2025, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitarman along with her team visited Rashtrapati Bhavan. Keeping in mind the tradition, President Draupadi Murmu offered him Dahi-Cheni (curd and sugar). The President’s official X (East Twitter) shared photos from the journey, captured a warm moment, where President Murmu smiled, fed a spoon Dahi-Cheni to Ms. Sitaraman. Later, the Finance Minister also posed for photographs with the representatives.

Importance of Dahi Cheney
Dahi chenny (curd and sugar) have important cultural and religious significance in Indian traditions. It is often seen as a symbol of blessings, as it is believed that it brings sweetness and positivity to life. The combination is usually introduced to invite good luck, prosperity and harmony during festivals or important programs. In religious rituals, especially when starting a new venture or celebrating milestone, people consume or present curd chests to seek blessings for success and happiness. It is also a customary offering during opportunities such as weddings or births, which symbolizes the beginning of some sweet and rich.
After a meeting with President Draupadi Murmu, Nirmala Sitarman met the union cabinet and approved the budget. The budget 2025 focuses on agriculture, food security and rural development. Major initiatives include Dhanya Krishi Yojana, which benefits 1.7 crore farmers in 100 low productivity districts, and form a Makhana Board in Bihar to promote fox nut production.
The budget also introduced a six -year mission to improve pulses such as Tur, Urad, and Dal, in which central agencies buy them for four years. The limit of Kisan Credit Card will also increase to Rs 75 lakh, which will help farmers to get more financial assistance.
