Koni Francis, who gained popularity with her songs, Preity Little Baby, died at the age of 87. The unfortunate news was confirmed by Ron Roberts, a long -time friend of the late musician.
The news of the singer’s death came two weeks after she was admitted to the ICU. Medical issues are unknown.
For the announcement, Roberts took on his Facebook account to share a picture of Francis and also wrote, “It’s with a heavy heart and extreme sorrow that I inform you about the demise of my favorite friend Koni Francis last night.”
He added, “I know that Koni approved that his fans are among the first people to know about this tragic news. More details will be followed later.”
Life and career of Koni Francis
Koni Francis was born in 1937 as Constate Frankono in Newark, and became a major singing sensation in the 1950s and 60s. In his career as a composer, he sold over 200 million records worldwide, and some of his popular songs include Preity Little Baby, Stupid Cupid, Hu Is Sorry Now and Frankie.
At the time of its release, Preity Little Baby was not a large part of a hit. However, due to its use in Instagram Reels and Ticketkok, revived in the song, brought the track on the chart, as it was streamful 2.4 billion times.
Speaking about his song, which gained popularity on social media, the late musician told People Magazine, “I had to hear to remember it.” He added, “To think that 63 years ago I recorded a song, touching the hearts of millions, it is really terrible. It’s a wonderful feeling.”
Calling it an honor, Francis said, “It is just breathtaking to see that they are paying tribute to me.”
Koni Francis’s dark past
While Francis’s professional life was flourishing, his personal life was full of struggles. The late singer was admitted to the hospital in 1974, when she was R*Ped and suffocated in KNIFEPOINT.
The incident occurred immediately after a performance at the Westbury Music Fair in New York. The entire episode took a toll on her mental health, and the lyricist could not perform for many years.
In addition, his brother was also rdered a few years later, and his father admitted him to the hospital against mental health reasons. The father-daughter duo did not talk to each other until the later death in 1996.
