Diljit Dosanjh – Jaswant Singh Khalra
Diljit Dosanjh plays the film’s central character, Jaswant Singh Khalra. Khalra, a human rights activist from Amritsar, exposed illegal cremations carried out during Punjab’s insurgency years by studying municipal records and cremation registers.
His investigation brings him into direct conflict with the authorities. He was kidnapped from outside his house in September 1995. Years later, following a CBI investigation and court proceedings, six Punjab Police officers were convicted in connection with her kidnapping and murder.
Diljit’s performance has been widely praised for capturing Khalra’s quiet determination rather than presenting him as a conventional larger-than-life hero.
Arjun Rampal as CBI officer
Arjun Rampal plays the role of a CBI officer who investigates Khalra’s disappearance after an investigation is ordered by the Supreme Court.
Unlike Khalra, it is not a direct portrayal of any one real person. The character is believed to be a fictional investigator inspired by the officers involved in the CBI investigation. He is also the film’s narrator, guiding the audience through the investigation and events that followed Khalra’s disappearance.

Kanwaljeet Singh as DGP Bitta, a senior police officer
Veteran actor Kanwaljeet Singh plays the role of Punjab DGP Bitta, a senior police officer of Punjab, in the film.
