In question, the lyricist Penn goes by the name Hijenberg, who has contributed to the songs of Thalapathi Vijay’s ‘Leo’, Junior NTR’s ‘Devra: Bhaag 1’ and Rajinikanth’s ‘Vetaine’. Director Lokesh Kanagraj and composer Anirudh Ravichandar have worked with Hijenberg on their films. Apart from him, none of the outside world knows who is Hyzenberg or seen him.
In an interview recently, director Lokesh Kanagarj dropped a major clue of who could be Hygenberg. He rubbed the rumors that it was not a robot, but a real person who wrote songs (mostly in English) in ‘Leo’ and ‘Devra’.
So, who is Hygenberg?
Anirudh became the ‘Bloody Sweet’ number one chartbuster from Vijay’s ‘Leo’ composed by Ravichender. During the release of the song, Anirudh was asked how it was working with the lyricist. He said, “I talked to him on the phone. Lokesh Kanagarj is the only one who has seen him personally.”
During the conversation with Galata plusLokesh Kanagarj opened about the mystery lyricist. “In fact, I saw him (Hijenberg) first and I saw Annie (Anirudh) meeting him too. He also knows him. But, we don’t want to blow his cover. And let it continue,” he explained. Asked if Hygenberg was a real person, Lokesh agreed and said, “It is not a robot, a real person.” He further clarified that it was not going under the name Hygenberg.
The director of ‘Coolie’ further said, “Hygenberg is a real person. This is a name that we have given to him. I will give you a clue. If you have seen ‘Varumayin Neeram Shivappu’, you will know the answer.”
This clue has left the fans of Tamil cinema eager. The special clip from the interview is now going viral, and internet users have started decoding who can be Hyzenberg. Estimates include Kamal Haasan, Nelson Dilipkumar and SV Shekhar.

However, this is not the first time that an artist’s identity is hidden in Tamil cinema.
In 2017, director Gautham Menon kept his film composer, ‘Anoi Noki Paayam Thota’ a secret. The first single, ‘MaruvaraThai’, which topped the chart, referred to the musician as Sri X. While the producers kept mystery for several months, it was later revealed that it was Darbuka Shiva who composed music.
